I was diagnosed with Celiac disease in 2015, following several years of chronic symptoms and unexplained illness. It was a tough pill to swallow for an Italian Canadian and lover of all things pizza and pasta, but I've also never felt more relieved in my life.
Amazing, I thought. I'll stick to a gluten-free diet and have more pep to my step in no time...not quite!
Five years have passed, and I'm still discovering new things, about my body and this disease, including the 300 known symptoms associated with it. Some days it feels like I've experienced all 300 of them.
